About the Center

Our story

Scholarship with public purpose

The Center was established to strengthen understanding of the Lusophone world, Latin America, and the Caribbean through interdisciplinary inquiry and public-facing analysis.

We bring together development economics, financial economics, international security, and regional studies to produce research and policy-relevant outputs that inform decision-makers, support institutions, and enrich public debate. Through publications, events, and educational programs, we connect academic rigor with practical engagement across the region and globally.

We translate research into insight—supporting policy, education, and institutions working across Latin America, the Caribbean, and Lusophone countries.

The Center’s mission

In addition to research and consulting, the Center provides speaking and training on topics such as general equilibrium modeling, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, and international economics and national security—alongside crisis ministry and chaplaincy support in times of emergency.

What we do

Research, policy, programs, and service

The Center publishes research and policy briefs, convenes academic events and conferences, supports study abroad and educational initiatives, and provides evidence-based consulting and advisory services. We also offer crisis ministry and chaplaincy support for communities and institutions responding to emergencies and disasters.
